Last month, 9 local bloggers gathered for lunch at Apeiro Delray to do what they do best: eat and take pictures of their food.
Don’t tell a food blogger they can’t have their phone at the table — it’s practically as important to their meal as the food itself. Without photos uploaded to Instagram, did the meal even happen…? Well, this meal definitely happened.
Apeiro launched its lunch menu on Thursday, September 24th, but before opening it up to the public, we invited some of the area’s most influential bloggers to give it a little taste-testing — and of course, to spread the word through social media to all of their friends and followers.
The afternoon started with a little bubbly, as every Monday afternoon should, while Chef Anthony introduced himself and talked a little bit about the new lunch menu. Everyone had already started digging into the Apeiro Spreads, one of the most popular share plates on the menu. Every meal should start with our delicious trio of hummus, eggplant caponata, and pistachio yogurt served with pita baked fresh daily in our wood oven grill. The plates were practically licked clean by the time a second share plate arrived — another favorite, the bacon-wrapped dates.
Done with the appetizers — now for the real deal! We started with individual portions of Gazpacho, one of the items on our 10 for $10 section of the lunch menu. The Gazpacho is served with your a side salad. Next we served two of our salads, family style, for everyone to share — the Greek Salad, and Chicken Kale Caesar, another 10 for $10 item. Following the lighter fare were Meatball Sliders (also on the 10 for $10), the Forest Mushroom Flatbread, and the Rigatoni Bolognese. Just as every Monday afternoon should start with bubbly, it should also always end with dessert. We couldn’t let the bloggers leave without trying all six flavors of our house-made gelato — vanilla bean, toasted coconut, dark chocolate, cinnamon, strawberry and mint stracciatella.
The consensus? Full bellies and satisfied bloggers. And a whole lotta pictures and social media posts to prove it!
